AI will play a huge role in the world of sport, and one of those roles is instant replays. With the rise of short-format videos on social platforms like TikTok and Instagram, capturing people's attention has become more challenging than ever. Watching a 90-minute game may just be too lengthy for our attention spans.

I explored how AI can assist with this. The solution was a concept of a search interface where soccer fans can enter what they want to see in natural language. This would collect, stitch, and generate a short video that can be shared on socials in a short 30- or 60-second form. Users would have the ability to add, remove, or swap clips and adjust additional settings, such as style, effects, and aspect ratio.

In fact, aspect ratio was one of the challenges I encountered along the way, as most content today is shot in a landscape format. However, most social networks are designed for portrait viewing. AI could potentially assist with this by using computer vision to track important subjects, objects, or events in the video, such as the football, different players, goals, or penalties. Since this wasn't part of the scope, we haven't explored the options further.

The interactive prototype provided the client with a clear understanding of the features and capabilities. It later served as a baseline for a feature in their product.
